Evaluation Question 3
I created a PowerPoint presentation in order to answer the evaluation question: What have you learned from your audience feedback? This can be viewed on Slideshare by clicking here or the link below:
Below is a link to an audience feedback video. The password to access this video is 'media'.
This video shows audience feed back from a small sample of our target audience that was established in the PowerPoint presentation. The main criticism that we received from the audience feedback video is the lack of a narrative. Therefore we have learnt from this audience feedback is that the best way to improve our video would be to remove the non-linear narrative and replace it with a linear narrative.

My Contribution
My A2 music video group consisted of myself and my partner Jamie. I made contributions to the group across the three stages of creating the music video.
Pre-production:
In this stage myself and Jamie decided on the song 'On Top Of The World' by Imagine Dragons together after researching various different songs during lessons in the beginning.
I was responsible in the group for drawing the storyboard and organising the actors used in the music video. Furthermore, I helped plan the filming schedule and choose the locations that we filmed at. In particular the motorcyclist and artist's settings.
Production:
In this stage I was responsible for filming the artists and motorcyclist's shots that are seen in the music video. Therefore I had to organise equipment e.g tripod and the Cannon EOS 100D which I used to film the shots, such as the time lapse seen in the video.
Post-production:
In this stage, myself and Jamie both contributed to editing the music video, choosing particular shots to use in the final piece.

Filming Locations
Three different locations were used to film our music video. These are:
- Ashover. This location was chosen because it was very scenic and provided nice background shots to compliment the movement of the motorcycle to keep shots interesting.
2. Bolsover. This location was used to film the artists shots seen in our video mainly because this where the actress lives and because only indoor shots were used to film a time lapse etc.. It was made sense to film there due to the high levels of natural light which complimented the shots.
3. Northwingfield. This location was used to film the indoor gamer and indoor/outdoor dog walker shots.
Here is the set where the gamer's shots were filmed. Artificial light was used in order to brighten the setting.
This photo is an example of one of the outdoor shots that was filmed in Northwingfield.

How Audiences Are Targeted
What is a target audience?
A target audience is a specific group of people within the target market at which a product (e.g a music video) is aimed at. A target audience can be formed of people of a certain age group, gender, martial status, for example: teenagers, males, single people. There can be single factors that a product is aimed for or there can be a combination of factors, e.g female 14-18. Other groups can be included in the target audience but they may not be the main focus group.
Why is this important?
This is important because music video producers must be very aware of their intended target audience and how they are going to access and appeal to them in order to maximise the success of that particular product. Its also important for the artist as it can increase, or in some cases decrease their fanbase.
Target market
A target market is a group of customers that a company (e.g marketing company) has decided to aim its marketing efforts and merchandise. The target market and the marketing combine variaous elements of a product; distribution place, promotion and price. The use of synergy and convergence between these elements is very important and they help promote each other to increase profits and the potential target audience.
How can I apply this to my music video?
Using this, the target audience for my music video that I'm creating will be involving a combination of factors: male and female, ages 15-18. This is a fairly niche audience but it is representative of the actors and actresses that will be playing a role in the product. Therefore I think its best if we target that age demographic because they will be able to relate the the characters the most.

Audience Research- Consumption Habits
The Uses and Gratifications Theory provides a number of reasons why the audience choose to watch any music videos that they consume.
Uses and Gratifications Theory:
The Uses and Gratifications Theory is an approach to understanding mass communication. The theory centres around the consumer, or audience. It assumes that members of the audience are not passive but take an active role in interpreting and integrating media into their own lives. The theory suggests that the audience have specific gratifications that they want to be fulfilled. Therefore the audience are responsible for choosing media that will meet their needs.

The theory gives a number of reasons for why the audience will choose a specific media:
- Education: allows for the audience to gather information, knowledge and understanding.
- Entertainment: to provide the audience with some enjoyment whilst consuming the media.
- Social interaction: media products may give the audience a topic of conversation/debates between groups of people.
- Escapism: Some consumers may view a product to forget about their worries temporarily.
- Arousal: The audience may consume a product for sexual arousal or gratification.
Therefore there can be a number of combined reasons why individuals will choose to watch a music video, and the audience are actively searching to view these products.
How will this be used in my music video?
By interpreting the Uses and Gratifications theory, I can now decide the reasons that I want to use and incorporate into my video to attract the audience. The main features from the list above that I would like the audience to view my product is for entertainment and escapism.
